Heading to Transkei again...

DSCN0438Here at Global Challenge Expeditions we like seeing a bit of God’s heart for the nations of our planet but we also believe that God has a very special plan for our own nation here on the Southern tip of Africa. We trust God for a breathtaking revival in South Africa and especially in the Eastern Cape Province.  A couple of years ago God specifically laid the Transkei region on our hearts and we’ve been reaching out there ever since…

Coincidence or God's Plan?

EmailsThumbFriends, this has been a remarkable week in which we truly experienced Gods goodness and favour.

As many of you know we have been waiting for a few crucial breakthroughs regarding the development of the GLA Eco Campus in Jeffreys Bay. This multi functional development will serve as a Mission Base – the training and logistics hub for Global Challenge Expeditions, a school - the home of Global Leadership Academy, and also a community centre from where we can influence the local Jeffreys Bay area.

On Monday evening 14 November we had our end year function and it was remarkable how God clearly called our leadership, parents, pupils and GCEX students to raise the level of our faith! No longer can any person be involved only as a spectator or critic... We have to all, as a family stand in faith and trust in the Lord for His provision and favour.

So, then the unbelievable happened...

Developing update: ECO CAMPUS

GLA-thumbDear friends,

We are sure most of you can identify with being in circumstances that ask of you utter dependence on God.

It is a place where you aren’t able to fall back on any of your own resources, knowledge or previous experiences... You can only trust that God will give direction and provide the necessary support and resources.

In our case, with the development of the land, He has provided abundantly in experts and knowledgeable people to assist and guide us in this venture. He provided architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, and even one of the best project management companies you can find, Aurecon.

God always uses people as his channel of provision, no matter the need.

As you can see, provision in qualified people to do the job hasn’t been our biggest hurdle to overcome up to this stage, but we can tell you, what has – FUNDING.

Japan Relief Team - Gear Up

Japan ReliefjapanreliefFor weeks now, OM Japan has been providing constant relief through the supplying of goods and support to earthquake-affected areas.

During Global Challenge’s recent visit to Japan, we again realised the great need for regular visits by support teams to assist the long term relief groups as well as the local Japanese churches.

We have already assembled a team who will be leaving for Japan on the 5th of September 2011 to further assist the longterm teams.

There is a need for more members to join the Global Challenge Japan Relief Squad for December. If you are interested, please continue reading!

Things they don't tell you when you sign up!

Joy-Apollis-BlogI remember being prepped by previous Explore Africa members... They tell you about the adventure, strange foods and even the hardship but the one thing they don't tell you is that the biggest challenge of this year is living with 6 other people, 24/7!  Six other people from very different backgrounds, cultures, ages. The really diabolical toilets, sleeping on the floor and mastering the art of bathing your whole body in a liter of cold water seems like child's play compared to getting along with team members. Maybe they tried to tell me but I just was not paying attention.

They don’t tell you about the fights over showers, food, the team computer and the last piece of toilet paper. It is really ridiculous how petty and primitive you can become on a journey like this. The best example of this would be the epic fight my fellow gypsy and I had a few weeks ago over shower time.
