MatriXpedition - Matric Holiday For Christian Travellers

Countries of ministry
Zanzibar, Tanzania

When is the journey?
2 December 2017 till 18 December 2017

More information
Why do you need to live an ordinary life when you can live a life of purpose and adventure?
Why go on an ordinary matric-holiday when you can make a difference while resting?

Matrixpedition is an initiative by Global Challenge Expeditions that provides matric students with the opportunity to make a difference, be challenged, see new places and be exposed to a life of servant leadership while ending off a jam packed 12 years at school.

This year Matrixpedition will focus on the Indian Ocean island of Zanzibar just off the coast of Tanzania.  98% of the inhabitants of Zanzibar are practising Islam due to the fact that Zanzibar is where African slaves were sold to Arabs.  So, in some sense the physical slavery has only been replaced by a slavery of mind and religion.  Apart from the tourist hotels the people of Zanzibar live in extreme poverty.  Local women wear veils and few girls get the opportunity to obtain a secondary education.

We are slowly witnessing change on the island because of the awesome Gospel of Jesus Christ.  God is calling many people to Zanzibar to be His hands and feet.  This is Zanzibar's time, come and join God where He is at work.

Where does the journey start and end?
The journey will start and end in Pretoria, South Africa.
