The time in turkey for me was AMAZING ( and no it is not controrary on my last blog, it is because of that and because of what God has done through that that even though it was difficult it was still a GREAT TIMEA)

Breaking point!!!

So my question for the time in Turkey was this.... After you have let yourself down and let the people around you down and have realized that you are not so great or immune to certain things that you thought you were,  what is your first thing that you do?

So the last day or two we have been running around Jbay and PE and doing the MOST MOST bizzare stuff EVER!!! We have had to catch a chicken (twice) make footprints in cow dung, build a human statue, play official official at a local school's  (read GLA) athletics day, played for a hour on a super tube, took a swim in the indian ocean, took a Ihashe for a ride on the beach ( for some of us the horse took us for a run...:P ), visited a few historic places in PE, sang gummy bears song about 100 times for donations, met the most fascinating, weird and cool persons ever, and of course spending a night on the PE airport .... And if you havent guessed by now YES it is challenge number one of GCX 2010!!!  So we thought we would share a few pictures with you guys just for an appetizer for whats to come this year!

So the new year started with a bit of uncertainty, i had and still have a clear call from God to stay involved with GCX for at least another year but the whole time there was a sense that maybe i wouldnt be able to...  Let me explain

Last year when we were in china i got eye infection and because i have a history with my eyes the specialist didnt want to  give me "the green light" to be away from home again for such a long time.  Well i decided that i am going to trust God for this and that His will will be done in any case.

So it was with a rather "scared" heart that i had to leave my northbound teammates in JBay and come up to Potchefstroom to quickly have a eye examination.
Well after a LONG discussion, a few new and a few old tests, lots of talking and lots of medical terms flying into my one ear and out of my other ear the doctor finally told me that as far as he is concerned i can go and that he has total peace about it.

After this while incident i just realized again what a awesome and faithful God we serve and that no matter what our circumstances are or how things "look" or even how we "feel" at any given moment He always stays the same and He will always follow through with the promises that He gave us!

China, a time of challenges....

The last two or three weeks in my life has just been AMAZING! I have had such a wonderful time here in China that it is difficult to explain it in words but i will still try :P

As soon as we arrived here in china about 3 weeks ago all of us just knew that it was going to be a month that will change our life's and that God had some amazing things planned for us! Our time started with 2 nights sleeping on the floor in train stations, and then we got on a train for a 32 hour  ride where we just had normal seets, so no bunker beds or sleeper couches or anything :P

After that we at least had a day or so to just relax and have some rest.  Then  all of the teams split up and went to different towns (for about 2 weeks) where there were nothing set up for us, and we had to totally rely on Him to show us where to go and where to minister.  There was nothing planned so we were totally on our own. God really laid it on our team's heart to not just make it a nice journey and to trust him for everything that we were going to need, so we basically decided that we would only spent the money that we had left in the wallet (which was about R1100).  So after a lot of commotion and excitement we set of on our faith journey.

We soon realized that we were going to be challenged a lot in different areas, and that God had His own plans for our journey.  The one night we were busy working out exactly how much money we had for food and we realized that we had about R120 for food for 2 weeks between the four of us, which we thought was going to be okay and manageable, well, that evening we went out for a cup of tea with someone we met and decided that we were going to pay the bill - which we though was going to be something like R30 or R40, it ended up being exactly our whole food budget for the month.  Later on in the week God also just took all the plans that we had and just totally turned it upside down in  different and random events.

We spent the next two weeks really just praying and traveling to different towns in search of everything that God wanted us to learn and what He wanted to show us.  We met the most wonderful people, people that let us stay for free in their homes, people that invited us to their houses for dinner, people that bought us lunch, people that pulled a tree out of the ground so that we had wood to 'braai" on.  People that showed us around the different towns to name just a few. .

When I look back at the two weeks  i just realized that if you challenge God on something and ask him to provide for whatever that it doesn't help to even try to make your own plans.  God will provide in His way for you.  God really provided for us in miraculous ways that we cant even begin to understand. There wasnt one evening that we went to bed hungry, we always had enough food, even to eat cookies some evening's, we always had a bed to sleep in and didnt use the tents (that we carried the whole time) even once. and the best is we actually had the privilege to 'braai' in china which was a HUGE blessing!

A quick story --> We met a young girl while we were "braaing" the evening and started to chat to her, she invited us to their house the following evening and we really talked a lot about different things, we also realized that she had such a wonderful heart for people and just had a totally different view of things than all of the other chinese people that we met.  To make a long story short, we shared a bit with her and the girls in our team took her and a friend out one evening to just talk to them and share a bit more.  at the end of our time in that town we gave each of them a English/Chinese bible and had the privilege of praying with them for them and their families.  So i really want to ask all of you to really intercede for that girl and that she would just understand everything that we talked to her about and just grow in her Faith

God really worked in each one of our life's and really came and just showed me that if we put everything in His hands he will provide, and he will meet you as far as you are willing to go! Maybe not in the way that you though or the way that you planned but He will provide in His own time and in His own way (Proverbs 16:9 "a mans heart plans his way, but the lord directs his steps" )

Its not all about the destination but about the journey!

The past week we have been here in Israel backtracking Jesus last few days of his walk here on earth, and it has been an AMAZING journey. We have been to the mount of olives, the garden tomb, the "western wall", and just plainly exploring the streets of Jerusalem where He walked, lived, suffered, performed miracles and preached.
